CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (AUG 26, 2022) - C’ville soccer fans will remember the devastating news last fall when then-fourth-year Rebecca Jarrett went down with a season-ending knee injury. Fortunately, after a year of patience and dedicated rehab, Jarrett is back on the field and kicking off her senior season in a big way. In addition to being named team captain, Jarrett has landed an NIL sponsorship deal with the local McDonald’s franchises owned and operated by RAHE, Inc. This partnership follows a similar deal between McDonald’s and Brennan Armstrong announced back in June, and is again in collaboration with the alumni-driven NIL collective Cav Futures.
Jarrett is from Washington Township, New Jersey and will be playing with the Wahoos for her fifth season this upcoming fall. She has been selected for the ACC Academic Honor Roll for three her previous four seasons and was named an all-ACC second team selection during her third year. Last season, Jarrett racked up three goals and three assists in the opening four matches before her season-ending ACL injury. Throughout her recovery, Jarrett used her time away from the field to focus on building UNCUT UVA , a student-led platform where student-athletes can share their stories and openly discuss mental health struggles.
It didn’t take long for Jarrett to make an impact after returning to the field for the 2022 season. She scored the second of three goals in UVA’s 3-1 win over George Mason in the home opener on August 18, and another in the Hoos’ decisive 6-0 win over Loyola Maryland. Needless to say, her teammates, coaches, and fans are ecstatic to have her back.
Jarrett will use her sponsorship opportunity with McDonald’s to continue expanding her impact in Charlottesville through volunteering at the local Ronald McDonald House. She will also be promoting McDonald’s on her social media and will launch a celebrity combo meal alongside UVA quarterback Brennan Armstrong.
“This is an incredible opportunity,” said Jarrett. “I am excited to continue connecting with the Charlottesville community and learn about business management from the team at RAHE Inc. Plus, everyone knows I love McDonald’s sprite, too, so I already have that part of my meal figured out!”
“As we looked to expand our NIL partnerships, Rebecca was a natural fit for our brand. Not only is she a dominant athlete, but her character really speaks for itself and I was inspired by her recovery story.” RAHE Inc. owner-operator Rick Hendricks shared.
“Becca is a superstar on and off the field. We could not be more excited to work with her on this opportunity,” explained Lo Davis, Executive Director of Cav Futures. “Our goal from the beginning was to be gender and sport inclusive, so we hope to build upon this partnership as we strive to support more of UVA’s phenomenal female student-athletes.”
Jarrett’s sponsorship is the second collaboration between Cav Futures and RAHE Inc. Cavalier Futures is a Virginia non-stock corporation providing an inclusive marketplace for UVA student-athletes to capitalize on their NIL. This deal is a continuation of their plan to build upon their relationship with RAHE Inc. in order to bring NIL opportunities to more University of Virginia (UVA) student-athletes in the near future.
