CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (August 3, 2022) – University of Virginia Football’s Dontayvion Wicks and Jonas Sanker have teamed up with local jeweler Reines & Rogers to help bring some familiar faces to the company’s season-long ad campaigns. The student-athletes will be featured on two billboards along Route 29, as well as in Reines & Rogers’ print advertisements in the football game day program. Both players will be shown wearing custom earrings designed by Reines & Rogers that showcase Virginia’s signature blue and orange school colors.
The pair will appear together in the advertisements, representing both sides of the ball for the Wahoos. Wicks, a rising fourth year wide receiver out of Louisiana, has earned his veteran status and was recently named to the
2022 Biletnikoff Award watch list - an award that honors the best receiver in college football. Sanker is a homegrown safety who graduated from The Covenant School and played in nine games last year as a true freshman at UVA. Both Wicks and Sanker are expected to be major contributors for the Cavaliers this upcoming season.
“This is a really exciting opportunity, especially because I’ve driven past these exact billboards so many times. I know it will be special for my parents to see them on their way to our games this season,” shared Sanker.
Reines & Rogers owner Jessica Rogers and her family are longtime UVA fans. Partnering with student-athletes was a natural fit for Rogers’ creative marketing vision, but she says it has been getting to know the players throughout the process that has made the experience truly special. “These are two exceptional young men, and I am glad that we could use this campaign to show a different side of them. It’s hard to see any big smiles under those helmets when you’re watching from the stands!”
“Reines & Rogers has been fantastic to work with, and we are looking forward to seeing Dontayvion and Jonas up on the billboards this fall. It’s great to see a local business partner with student-athletes in such a fun and creative way.” Said Cav Futures Executive Director Lo Davis.
Fans driving southbound on US-29 this upcoming fall should keep an eye out for Sanker and Wicks on the right hand side as they pass Hollymead Town Center. Fans attending the home games in Scott Stadium will get an up close look at the advertisements in the game day program.
